Youth Council secures grant for 2012 Home Grown Concert
The Cowra Youth Council has secured a $2,500 Indent grant to assist in staging the 2012 Home Grown concert for young local bands and solo artists during Youth Week this year.
Now in its third year, Home Grown gives local artists the opportunity to perform to a live audience with a wide variety of genres represented, including country, pop, progressive rock, acoustic and heavy metal/grunge. The concert is an all ages, drug and alcohol free music event.
Home Grown 2012 promises to be even bigger and better, with the Cowra Youth Council working alongside fellow Indent grant recipients from the Youth of Bland Shire in West Wyalong to include a headline band in the line-up this year.
“We plan to close off the street outside the Civic Centre and have other entertainment, street stalls and street theatre running in the lead up to the concert. It’s going to be a fantastic night, so we’d encourage all young local musicians to give it a go and start rehearsing,” said the concert team leader and Youth Council member Dylan Oliver.
Indent is the peak youth network for contemporary music and a proud project of MusicNSW. Indent’s official media release provides further detail.
